“I was born in Winnipeg and raised mostly in the city. My parents, both musicians and singers, are from the country so I got to spend a lot of time on the farms of my grandparents.
My main instrument is guitar and I’ve been playing 30 years. Seeing “The Beatles” when I was five years old was a defining moment, and by the time I was eight I was singing songs for my mom and my grandmother. I started playing the guitar soon after and formed a band, also playing with my parents’ band, “The Sunset Rhythm Pals”. I commenced full time club work when I was 20, as well becoming a ‘first call’ session player. I’ve never had a formal education in music, unless you count learning to read and write “Mary Had A Little Lamb” on the recorder in grade 4! Actually, the basics I learned in music class and choir served me well in all my experiences later on.”
I’ve been inspired by so many musicians and singers in my life, and I’ve had the privilege of working with the best of them. Ray st. Germain, The C-Weed Band (Errol Ranville), The D-Drifters, Harlequin, Kenny Shields (Streetheart), Idol Eyes, Charlie Daniels, and The Bellamy Brothers, to name a few.”
Some of the players most influential in my style…Luther Perkins(Johnny Cash), Don Rich(The Buckaroos), John Fogerty, Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Kim Simmons(Savoy Brown), Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Howe(Yes), Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Lowell George(Little Feat), Eddie Van Halen, Mark Knopfler….the list is actually much longer so I’ll stop there!
